Security

The Electronic Document Company are certified providers of RSA secure ID solutions.

Users access DocuPump™ through encrypted password login and a multi-homed firewall has been installed to further protect the network.

Client Side

DocuPump™ is a true thin client application, accessible with most browsers. Simple implementation allows its use through corporate firewalls with no use of cookies or downloadable client side, browser extensions.

DocuPump™ Evolution

The Company has always been interested in combining current technology with knowledge of the industry to provide innovative solutions to our clients' workflow or document management issues. DocuPump™ was a natural evolution of this business philosophy.

Five years ago we realised that we could add further value to our service by devising a strategy using current communications technology and software for managing all the resources that go toward meeting our clients' demand. We began by using third party software but found it did not control the relationships between individual stock items and complex packs including combinations of different components. The software could report numbers of individual stock items on the shelf but not display potential packs. The system was time consuming to administer and monitor, in addition to being prone to human error.

The knowledge gained was useful though, and we realised that if we were to provide a cost-effective, automated, and complete solution to our clients' supply chain inefficiencies we would have to write proprietary software to do the job, accessible through a browser on the Internet.

Our experience had shown us that automated inventory control rather than just stock reporting was crucial to the success of the project. This would reduce administrative overheads for our clients and eliminate human error from this process. In order for this to be possible, the software had to be capable of dealing with complex packs including infinite combinations of products as well as single layer products such as letterheads, brochures and business cards.

Unique Approach

The “Crown Jewels” of the application is the “GenRestock” module. We believe the complexity of the code necessary to solve this issue has prevented other developers in working in this way. The number of nested product structures permissible means the number of potential product relationships increase exponentially with

product layers so shipping orders at the top product level can theoretically trigger infinite restocking requests at lower levels.

Other solutions tackle more simplistic Supply Chain Management (SCM) issues such as price bidding, rather than Manufacturing Execution.
